LightWave

A veteran on TV, film, and game media, LightWave 3D is also used to create graphics for print, web, industrial design, architecture, medical imaging, etc.
LightWave 3D includes tools to create soft-body dynamics, particles, hair, and fur, plus unlimited render nodes.
LightWave 3D is one of the first animation packages with built-in high-dynamic range images (HDRI) support. First appeared in the Amiga scene and later migrated to Mac OS X and Windows, platforms while the render engine has been ported to Linux. It is developed by NewTek. WaveGuide (http://www.intuitionbase.com/waveguide/home.html) is dedicated to LightWave3D, on the Amiga, the best home computer ever.
LightWave has been used in films like Blade Runner, Terminator2 and Babylon5. Also been the software of choice in the Mimbari wars, Titanic, Tomb Raider 2, The Matrix Reloaded, Blade 2, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, The Last Samurai, etc
